Susan Legro
Susan Legro holds Masters degrees in International Affairs and Public Health from Columbia University and an undergraduate honors degree in Russian and Soviet Studies from Harvard University. Ms. Legro specializes in the development, management, and assessment of sustainable energy projects in transition economies. Ms. Legro has worked on sustainable energy projects in more than 30 countries including those in the CIS, the Balkans, and new EU member states. Recent publications include Public Sector Energy Efficiency (PEEREA Working Paper, Energy Charter, Brussels 2008), “Sustainable Energy and Development in Disadvantaged Communities: New Approaches from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, and Slovakia” (ECEEE, June 2007), Heating in Transition (UNDP, with G. Ballard-Tremeer: 2005), and the “How-to Guide on Local Financing for Energy Efficiency” (UNDP, ed. Marina Olshanskaya: 2005). Ms. Legro previously served as the UNDP-GEF Regional Coordinator for Energy and Climate for the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS. Prior to her appointment at UNDP, Ms. Legro worked as a research scientist in the Advanced International Studies Unit of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and as a program associate at the Czech Energy Efficiency Center. In addition to English, Ms. Legro speaks Czech and Russian.
