Ellie La Trobe-Bateman is the founder and managing director of Blue Ventures Carbon Offset (BVCO – www.bvco.org.uk). BVCO is a not for profit carbon offsetting organization that works in Madagascar and South Africa to promote the use of, and distribute energy efficient stoves and solar stoves to remote rural communities. BVCO was born out of Blue Ventures and has been running since 2007. Ellie founded the organisation at the beginning of 2007, focusing initially at helping communities in Madagascar, and now branching out to help communities in South Africa, India and Brazil.

Ellie has an MSc in Environmental Change and Management and a BA in Biological Science from Oxford University. Her environmental science background has led her to environmental consultancy and in this role has experience of renewable energy assessments, energy audits and climate change policy assessment. Ellie is currently working with Eco Ltd as an associate helping to develop the EcoTrack monitoring tool.
